Season 4 | Week 7 | Regular Season

Week 7 saw our record attendance for the season with 19 bowlers! We welcome the youth bowlers as they join us for the summer now the YBC is over, so look forward to seeing how they perform in the big leagues and if any can take home any wins!

We also had a change of oil pattern in this week so we will see how this affects the bowlers! Lets see how the averages reflect the change, will it make the bowling tougher or easier?! Will the bowlers be able to figure out the lanes better?! 

Week seven had a lot of bowlers close after the three games but we had one clear winner! Let's see how the night broke down! 

Game 1 saw a few high scores with the highest scratch score being a a 222 from Will. However the handicap games saw Kev O'Reilly take an early lead with a 166 scratch and a 242 on handicap. Terry Browning in his first week competing in the league started strong with a 189 scratch and a 223 on handicap! Lots of other bowlers were right around the 220 handicap mark and close on Kev's heels heading into Game 2! 

On the old oil pattern game 2 was always the toughest as that's when the transition hit and the lanes became really difficult! Well the new oil pattern definitely held up better as there were a lot of solid scores in Game 2. The highest game of the day went to Dan Whiteley in game 2 with 237 scratch! Andrew Tapping shot a 232 scratch game and Lewis had a 231 scratch game! Kev O'Reilly struggled a bit in Game 2 but held together a solid 194 on handicap! Andrew Tapping takes over the lead turning 466 with a 242 handicap game 2! Will, Rhiannon, Dan Whiteley and Lewis Spender were all around the 440 mark putting their names in to take the win! Kev O'Reilly and Terry Browning were tied at 436 and not far behind the pack! This was one of our closer nights with so many bowlers so close heading into game 3, let's see who clutched up and took the win on the night!

Game 3 belonged to Kev O'Reilly! There were some solid scores with a 233 handicap game from Jon Buss and a 240 handicap game from Dan Canham! However, Kev O'Reilly shot his high game of the day, and of the season, with a 184 scratch giving him a 260 on handicap and solidifying his win with a 696 handicap series, winning by 41 overall! Congratulations to Kev O'Reilly on his first regular season win of season 4 and 2nd regular season win in the league! This also puts Kev into third place in high handicap series for season 4! Congratulations and well bowled! 

Strike Pot:

The strike pot this week was brutal with two 10th frame doubles required! Will anyone finally make it to game 3?! Let's find out! 

We had few bowlers get through the first few strikes this week and no one made it to game 2! Terry browning on his first appearance made it the furthest by getting to the second strike in the 10th frame of game 1, but ultimately dropped out there! The pot rolls over to £87 with with so many entries this week bolstering the pot and a kind donation from Luke of five pounds into the main pot and 5 pounds into the strike pot!
