🎳 Season 4 Week 20 | Singles Tournament 🎳
Season 4 comes to its conclusion with the second singles tournament! We've reached 80 weeks of the league which is an incredible milestone and I'm so honoured to be able to run it for you all, thank you for attending every week and making the league such a special place for everyone involved! ❤
9 bowlers took to the lanes to fight it out for a major title in our bracket tournament! It was a fantastic night of bowling with some very close games and some very strong rivalries, so let's see how the night went down! 👀
Game 1 saw our qualifying game for the top four spots to make it into the bracket finals! There was a gap between our top three and the rest of the field as the lanes started of tough with some tricky carry all around! 🎳
Qualifying as our 4th seed with a 191 handicap game was Tim Wood! Recently going from palm to 2-handed bowling, a great start to a new journey by qualifying for the finals!
Qualifying as our 3rd seed was Kiran Akehurst! This is Kiran's second time qualifying into the finals, last time he fell short and finished fourth, can he make it further this time round?!
Qualifying as our second seed was Dan Whiteley by two pins! Posting a 208 on handicap this is also his second time qualifying, last time narrowly missing out by single digits in the finals against Will! Can he take down the win this time round?!
And qualifying as our first seed by a strong margin, shooting a PB scratch game of 160 and a handicap game of 230 was Amber Matthews! After narrowly missing our during qualification in the first tournament, this time she made sure of her place in the finals, how will she fare in the bracket?!
In our semi-finals we saw Amber Matthews take down Tim Wood shooting 184 to 157 on handicap in a pretty convincing win to make her way into the grand finals! Tim drops into the losers finals!
In our other semi-finals between Dan Whiteley and Kiran Akehurst we saw a close battle that came down to the final shot of the game! Dan needing a spare and strike to tie and qualify through higher seed tiebreaker! He left a split on the first shot in the 10th frame and made an incredible spare to give himself a chance! Unfortunately he fell just short and drops into a losers finals, setting up a couple's rivalry in our grand finals between Amber Matthews and Kiran Akehurst!
Starting with the losers finals, the Lanes got tough and the scoring pace was not high, but Dan Whiteley takes the win with a 158 handicap game to take 3rd place! 🥉 Another top 3 finish in our tournament, congratulations on your amazing and consistent bowling! Tim Wood fell from qualifying in 4th to our wooden spoon of the night, so congratulations to Tim on qualifying and you'll get them next time! 🥳
In the Grand finals we had another close match with Kiran Akehurst struggling to carry and leaving a lot of nine counts! @Amber Matthews was staying consistent with sparing and closing frames all game! Coming down to the final frame Kiran could put the pressure on by getting good count and finished up his game 10 pins ahead of Amber with her 10th frame to go, how did she handle the pressure..?! She handled it like a pro shooting a 7/ and smashing the headpin on the last shot for good count! She takes down the win beating Kiran by seven pins on handicap! 🥇
Congratulations to Kiran Akehurst for a 2nd place finish, well bowled all night! 🥈
Amber Matthews becomes our third major titlist and our first female titlist in the league! Shooting a PB series scratch of 417 on top of it all, she would have swept the whole night with the highest series, first seed, winning both matches AND shooting two PBS?! An absolutely incredible performance and very well deserved! 🏆
Our non-cashing winner of the night was Andrew Tapping! He didn't qualify but had the highest set of the non-cashing bowlers so congratulations to Andrew on his third win of the season, tying up Steve for most wins of the season! 🥳
🎳 Strike Pot 🎳
The strike pot saw everyone use their new extra life on the first strike of the night with everyone else bowing out at the start of the second game the rollover going into next season sits at £204!
